How does it work
How does it work?
Installed inside or outside, air source heat pumps extract heat from the ambient air.
Because they’re easier to install and remain accessible, they’re suitable for a wide range of applications, particularly retro-fitting or where space is limited.
How efficient are they?
Constant fluctuation in air temperature means air source heat pumps are slightly less efficient than ground source. They will still extract heat from the air at temperatures as low as -20°C so will still be effective and efficient throughout an average UK winter.
Air source heat pumps are also much less expensive to install as they don’t need expensive ground collectors.
