Thanks to a donation from Future Renewables to conservation charity, the National Trust, Florence Court recently installed a biomass boiler donated by the Fermanagh renewable energy company.
The National Trust is aiming to provide 50% of their energy sources from renewables by 2020. In Northern Ireland that figure is already at 21% – with 37% of heat now being provided by ten wood burning systems – resulting in 95,000 litres of oil being displaced annually. The new biomass boiler at Florence Court will be important in helping to meet the charities targets.
Kate Noble, National Trust Environmental Practices Advisor said: ‘Future Renewables owner Neil Elliot has been an avid supporter of the Trust and regularly visits places throughout Northern Ireland with his young family. We were delighted when he decided to donate a biomass boiler to Florence Court.
‘We decided to install a wood pellet boiler to replace the existing oil system. With a relatively straightforward installation completed, we are now set to save money on heating costs as well as to benefit from 20 years of Government incentive under the Northern Ireland Renewable Heat Incentive.’
Neil Elliot of Future Renewables added: ‘When the opportunity arose for Future Renewables to be able to help the Trust, I contacted Kate to see where we could help.
‘Needless to say we were delighted at the prospect and it was agreed that a biomass solution at Florence Court, replacing the existing oil boiler with a Grant Spira wood pellet boiler, would be the best option to help the charity meet their heating needs for the tea-room and offices.’
